I'm a Bay Area pastor with a bit of farming in my blood. Several years ago I thought it would be fun to estabish one hive in my garden. It's a classic beekeeper origin story. One hive became four, four became eight, and so on, and the honeybees became "One Hobby To Rule Them All". Along the way I've learned some practices to keep the bees healthy and happy and to get the best honey. These hives are kept without chemical treatments and are left with enough of their own honey that no sugar water feeding is necessary.
It's been fun to learn, to spend time outdoors, and to know I'm adding my work to the bees' to bring something special into the world.
